*Education: Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology.
*Experience: At least 1 years of experience as a Lab Technologist .
– JD:
1. Specimen Collection & Processing:
* Collect, process, and handle blood and other biological specimens in compliance with established procedures.
* Instruct patients on the proper collection of samples to ensure high-quality specimens for analysis.
2. Clinical Laboratory Testing:
* Perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests in the areas of hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis.
* Conduct both quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid.
* Perform blood counts and other necessary tests using microscopes and other laboratory equipment.
3. Blood Transfusion & Collection:
* Conduct blood tests for transfusion purposes and collect blood samples via finger, ear lobe, or vein, following principles of asepsis and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
4. Cell/Tissue Culture & Isolation:
* Develop and maintain cell and tissue cultures for testing.
* Isolate and identify specimens using advanced laboratory techniques and methods.
5. Quality Control & Accuracy:
* Perform quality control on test results to ensure validity and accuracy, maintaining high standards of laboratory practices.
* Conduct daily internal control runs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of tests, and take corrective actions as needed.
* Match Levey-Jennings (LJ) curves daily and document all steps, adjusting processes when necessary.
6. Calibration & Instrument Maintenance:
* Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory instruments to ensure they adhere to established standards of accuracy.
* Conduct daily maintenance of laboratory instruments, recording and validating their proper functioning.
7. Documentation & Reporting:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of laboratory tests and results according to established procedures.
* Document re-runs and any corrective actions taken, ensuring transparency and traceability of all processes.
8. Safety and Compliance:
* Follow all safety, environmental, and infection control methods to ensure a safe working environment for both staff and patients.
9. Operational Efficiency:
* Run daily sample analyses to provide timely and accurate results.
* Monitor turnaround times daily and work to maintain operational efficiency within the lab.
* Recommend improvements to the quality system and testing kits to the Head of Department (HOD) to improve laboratory performance.
10. Miscellaneous Duties:
* Perform any additional job-related tasks as assigned by the Head of Department or Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy..
